Canted NGC slabbed coin?
I received a NGC slabbed coin today that is rotated in the holder about 70 degrees. Is this ok? All my other NGC graded coins are strait up and down. I bought it on eBay and the seller wrote me after I purchased it and said that he had an error in the listing ID# but that he had the same graded coin just as nice or nicer with a different ID# so I said fine. The coin in the original listing is strait up and down and he didn't mention that this one was canted in the holder.
I have no question that it is a legitimate coin. Would this bother you and will it make a diifference on resale? |

Try this on your mouse pad. Roll the holder in a flicking motion (over and over) lettting it hit the corner, like an abrupt stop. The weight of the coin will continue to turn when the holder stops. Look at the direction it is turning. Your welcome! Let me know if you figure it out okay. |
Re: Canted NGC slabbed coin?
Its a 1/10 GAE so it may not have enough mass or I'm doing it wrong. I do understand how it would work though. Thanks for the tip!

It's a quick cartwheel motion with a quick stop. You just have to get the knack. |

Re: Canted NGC slabbed coin?
No problem with the coin being rotated. Just means your precious is a "jetsetter." It's been mailed a lot, probably, and vibration made it rotate. Follow EE's advice for a solution.

Re: Canted NGC slabbed coin?
I have several NGC slabbed coins that are somewhat rotated on the inside of the slab. No biggie.

Good info to know
Thanks EE :ok: |
Re: Canted NGC slabbed coin?
Sometimes I have to reorient a coin in a holder. If the coin is loose enough that it will move in the holder (some holders such as those with foam rings may hold the coin too tightly for it to move easily), I do this by firmly holding it so that I am looking at the face (or back) of the coin, then move it rapidly around in a circular motion, as if it was attached to an imaginary fan blade that is facing me. This causes the coin to rotate in the holder in a direction opposite the rotation of the holder.
